About Sunset House
“Hi, I’m Michelle and this is my family. Welcome to Sunset House, a thoughtfully designed retreat where beach charm meets elevated living.”
I come from a small farm town in the Pacific Northwest, where community runs deep and hospitality is just a way of life. Coming from a close-knit extended family (the kind where my aunt and uncle are second parents and my cousins are brothers) - small town hospitality and those values of care and connection are at the heart of everything I do for our guests of Sunset House.
Being from the Pacific Northwest, I longed for warmth and sunshine during cloudy, gray winters year after year— which is why the warmth of the Florida coast and the creation of Sunset House has become such a gift to our family and now other families as well.
As a busy mom of a toddler and a baby, I understand how precious vacation time is — and how important it is for every family member, especially mom, to feel like they’re truly on vacation. That’s why we poured our heart and soul into fully renovating Sunset House. The journey began May 2024. I’ll always remember going into labor with our second baby during Hurricane Milton, right in the middle of the renovation. Balancing newborn life and a major home transformation was no small feat, but with perseverance - and a whole lot of love - Sunset House came to life.
Every corner of the home is designed with families in mind - adventure for the kids, comfort for the family, and a true sense of relaxation for mom. We opened up walls to create wide open areas perfect for interaction and connection, an elevated kitchen made for big family dinners. One of our proudest transformations was the backyard, which was reimagined into a private tropical paradise - complete with lush palms, places to lounge, and room for kids to play while parents unwind. It’s become the heart of Sunset House, where the poolside mural is the perfect backdrop for sun-soaked afternoons and the outdoor movie is simply divine for evenings spent under the stars.
